43a. Description
An electric current is passed through the patient’s brain, producing a grand mal seizure. This is commonly repeated several times a week for two or three weeks.
43b. Range of Use
Usually administered in a hospital setting. Considered safer than medications for the elderly, pregnant women, or patients who are also physically sick. It may be used with patients who are resistant to medication
Primary side effect is temporary loss of memory.
