EARLY TREATMENT DECISIONS
Map 1B begins by reminding you that it is important to work on the treatment alliance [Section 4] while developing a treatment plan for your patient. The map continues by asking about panic attacks [Section 13], because of their urgency in a patient’s experience and a need to deal with them immediately. If these are an issue, go on to Map 5.Then it goes on to consider a variety of possible sources of a person’s anxiety and possible therapeutic responses to each. These include
- Drug usage [Section 7] If you think that drugs may be an issue, then go on to [Map 4]
- Medical issues [Section 6] If these are a problem, go on to Map 3.
- Skill deficits [Section 8]
- Trauma [Section 9]. If trauma is important as a source of anxiety, go on to Section 12.
- Stress[Section 10] If this is an issue, go on to Section 19.
However, the list of possible sources of anxiety has not been exhausted, and you may need to go on to Map 2 for others.
Once specific approaches to identifiable disorders have been considered, additional work is discussed in the sections shown on .
