37. BREATHING

Follows from Section 26 [Calming Techniques] on Map 6.

Rapid, shallow breathing is one of the symptoms of anxiety and panic. It may lead to hyperventilation and dizziness, and contribute to a feeling of being out of control. Because there is a close connection between a person’s body and emotions, management of rapid breathing can have an important impact on the associated feelings of anxiety and panic.
